Better Choices, Better Health Program

Writer: Office StaffOffice Staff

Alberta Health has a program I think will be beneficial to many patients.

BCBH® is a no-cost virtual/in-person self-management workshop for Albertans 18 years of age or older who have a chronic health condition or support someone with a chronic health condition.

As a complementary interaction to clinical contact, BCBH® provides tools and skills to help people better manage their chronic condition's physical, emotional, and social impact and prepares them to make care planning decisions.

These peer-led workshops run once a week for six weeks; each session is 2.5 hours.

Topics of exploration include managing the day-to-day challenges of living with chronic health conditions, symptom management, tips for healthy eating, communication strategies, methods for dealing with difficult emotions, ways to enjoy a better quality of life and more.

BCBH® is an internationally recognized evidence-based self-management program originally developed by Stanford University.

Caregivers, family members and friends are also welcome to attend.
